Liathach, "The Grey One"
Watercolour, 24 x 35 cm
I felt like painting a mountain, so I did this one from a sketch I made last year. Liathach means "The Grey One" in Gaelic. It is in Torridon, an area where the rock is mainly sandstone and the mountains are weathered into dramatic shapes.
And I envy you for those majestic view of mountains, ... just awesome!!
ReplyDeleteWe should swap work someday, ...
That brings back memories of holidays with my parents. I've drawn Red throated Divers on the Loch below that mountain.
ReplyDeleteYes René I suppose I shouldn't complain!
ReplyDeleteDo you remember the midges as well Stuart!
ReplyDeleteNot there as it was fairly early in the year around April time. But we had anoher holiday in the middle of August at Lairg that was really spoilt by the midges. It was very hot and still for the whole week and there was nowhere to escape from them.
ReplyDeleteI love this painting Keith, the blues of the mountain and the russets of the moors. Your wee tree gives the whole painting perspective .. great! I spent a holiday in the Torridon area a few years ago, a wonderful part of Scotland.
ReplyDeleteAh Ingrid, you've spotted my bit of artist's licence! The tree was an invention to improve the composition.
