Wind Turbines at Forss
Watercolour, 16.5 x 25 cm
Some of the windmills which are popping up all over Caithness these days.
It's interesting to think that just out of sight, behind the wind-turbines, is Dounreay Nuclear Power Station (which is being dismantled now). What a contrast!
I like it, in two ways.
ReplyDeleteOne is for the watercolor, such a great mood and depth you maneged to get in.
Second the picture itself they almost seems like propellers on a huge ship (Hovercraft) propelling the nation into his future.
I expect a nice watercolor for the plant now! :-P
Thanks René. I like the Great Ship idea.

Already done - "Rough Sea at Dounreay"I'll be doing more though. It's such a dramatic subject.
I love your wind turbines, Keith. I am actually fascinated by wind turbines - the actual images and the sound. I did a large painting based on these images in 2006, but it is something that could be done again and again, from so many perspectives. Lovely painting - the wind turbines are so much part of it and, yet, at the same time, they have their own life.
ReplyDeleteI like this view as well, although as a photographer I have yet to produce an image that I like.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane. I can understand what you mean about being fascinated by wind turbines. For me it has something to do with their clean lines and a sort of gracefulness, combined with sense of great power. I don't find them easy to paint in a landscape though. They are so big that they seem out of scale with their surroundings sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI have trouble with them as well Jamie, as I mentioned above. I often think about painting the Causeymire Windfarm, but I can't seem to find a view that I like.
ReplyDeleteHi Keith, I love the painting!
ReplyDeleteCan I use it in my blog? I would appreciate it a lot.
Thank you!
Hi Pedro,
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes that would be OK.
